TRW MOULDING INSTALLATION ADVICE

The mouldings are quick and easy to install, all you need is a mitre saw and approved adhesives and sealants.

Mouldings must be stored flat in a cool dry place. As is the nature of many building materials, expansion will occur if the mouldings are left in direct sunlight prior to installation.

Climate conditions can affect the adhesive/sealant curing time. Installation should proceed only in temperatures between 5 and 35 degrees Celsius.

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free of dust, dirt or loose material.

All joins must be mitre cut and adhered with sealant (no butt joins).

Be sure to apply adhesive in two lines across theback of the mould, with an even amount on the top and bottom, and also with a squiggle the centre, spanning the length of the mould. Place the mould in position on the wall and move it around whilst applying pressure to ensure the glue spreads to achieve adequate adhesion. After the mould is in place and the glue has cured, seal all edges with an approved sealant by applying a 5mm (minimum) bead. Smooth off sealant to create a strong waterproof seal. At all times also refer to instructions on packaging of adhesives and sealants, which may be of assistance/relevance to the requirements of each individual application.

All exposed mould surfaces should be coated within seven days of installation. If these moulds are to be paintedthey must be primed with a quality Etch primer, followed by being painted with a quality UV stable exterior paint. If they are to be rendered over they must be firstly coated using a polymetric render (patch), as acrylic dry render or mineral render will not adhere.

Recommended adhesives, sealants and coatings must be used at all times.
